Hard to argue with a game where the bloke next to you at the bar can collect while you both wait for your schooners. Keno's the only thing I'll slap while my pokie bankroll has a rest, set my bet per game before I sit down and it keeps me honest, which the machines down the road never manage.
Genuine question for the thread though: how do you punters actually pick? Spot selection, quick pick, same numbers every visit? I've watched blokes swear their "lucky eight" is due after a dry month, and I've watched a quick pick land a decent hit out of nowhere. Feels like the dream part of "lose small, dream big" is the whole business model, but if it only costs me a few bucks a session while I'm waiting on food, I'll take that over feeding a dead machine any arvo. 🎰

The pub keno is fine as a schooner-tax, no argument there, but nobody's turning a profit off it long term, the maths is baked in. Anyone claiming they beat it regularly, I'll believe it when I see the cashout screenshot.

thing is with keno, the schooner-tax framing undersells it a bit. it's the only game where I can sit there, pace myself through a couple pots, and the dream's still alive the whole time. no dead machine staring at me, no chasing a feature that never comes. if the maths is baked in either way, I'd rather have mine served cold with the footy replay on and a mate yelling at the screen when his numbers drop. grind on, sam, you're doing it right.

Neon's got a point about the second schooner 😅 but the way I handle it is dead simple: I set my bet per game before I even sit down, usually A$1 a game, and that's the whole decision made. Keno's actually the one game where my bankroll discipline holds, cos there's nothing chasing you - no feature teasing you, no "one more spin" pull like the pokies at the club. Draw finishes, ticket's in the bin or my pocket, done.

@Neon_Addict mate that "juicy draw" excuse is the oldest one in the book 😅 I do the same at the club on Fridays, tell myself three games of keno then wander back to the pokies, and somehow I'm still holding a ticket when the last draw goes up. Keno's the only game where I genuinely don't care if I lose, which is half the charm 😄 Friday nights at the club I'll chuck a few games on while waiting for a Lightning Link seat to open up, and if a number hits while I'm mid-schooner that's the whole night made. Grinder's right that the edge is rubbish but A$1 a game is such a slow drip you'd never notice it.
