Had a slap on Buffalo at the club yesterday and it got me thinking
You're spot on with the venue-by-venue thing. I had a slap on Buffalo at the club last week too and the machine felt noticeably tighter than the one at my local. There's no single published RTP for it, Aristocrat lets each venue set the payback within the state minimum, so the same cabinet can play completely different two suburbs apart. That's why a dead machine at one pub can suddenly pay at another, same game, different config.
Bankroll-wise I treat Buffalo as a feature-chasing game anyway. I go $1 a spin on the Reel Power setup, 1024 ways, and I'm really only there for the free games with the wild multipliers. That's where the value hides no matter what the venue RTP is set at. Base game just grinds you down until the feature hits. Yesterday's session: went through my A$100, hit the feature once, multipliers stacked nicely and I walked out roughly square. Discipline is walking after the feature whether it pays or not.
500x one day, zero the next. Classic.
TiltSurvivor, mate, you've copped exactly what I've seen over the years. There's no single published figure for Buffalo - each venue sets it within the state minimum, so the same cabinet at the pub up the road can play like a different animal to the one at the club. Explains why one machine coughs up the feature every second visit and the other just sits there eating your twenties.
Reminds me of the old Queen of the Nile days, you'd learn which room had the friendlier machines and you'd quietly gravitate there. Same logic applies now. And whatever the payback is at your joint, the real value hides in the free games with the wild multipliers. Land the feature with a couple of multipliers riding and it turns a sloppy session into a decent arvo. Turned 50 into 5k once on a feature like that, years back. Never forgot it either 😄
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Yeah this lines up with what I've felt too, the Buffalo at my club is easily my all-time favourite but the one at the pub near work plays dead tight, same cabinet, chalk and cheese 🤔 reckon the venue just dials the RTP wherever it's allowed. Anyway the free games with those wild multipliers is where I've had my big hits, sunsets going off and the whole joint hearing me yell 😅🎰
What I've noticed is the wild multipliers change everything venue to venue. Land the free games where the wilds stack decent multipliers and even a tighter machine pays you proper, but on a dead tight setup those same wilds come through at 1x and 2x and the feature's worthless. Had a slap on the club Buffalo a couple of weeks back, hit the feature twice and both times the wild multipliers did the heavy lifting, walked out up instead of feeding it another fifty like I'd planned 💸
So my rule now is treat each cabinet as its own job. Same game, different payback per venue within the state minimum - meaning the pub one near me gets my bracket of spins short and the club one gets the longer session. If the feature isn't multiplying, I cash out whatever's left and move on. Discipline's the whole game there honestly 🎰
Nah hold up, half of youse are blaming the venue for a cold session 😅 same cabinet can absolutely play different club to club, sure, but TiltSurvivor you were on it every arvo last week weren't you? Give it a proper slap at the pub one Friday, land the free games with wilds stacking and see if it still feels dead tight 🔥💰
One slot, one love 🎰
BigWinGod has a point, but I'll back the venue theory with my own damage report - cleared a bonus-style session on the club Buffalo a while back where the free games stacked wilds proper and I walked up over A$300, then gave the pub one near my sales territory two twenties a week later and the feature hit once with single multipliers. Same game, chalk and cheese. If the state minimum's the only floor, venues are absolutely running their own dial. 🔥
Bankroll discipline wins 💸
Youse are all blaming the venue but half of it's just variance eh 😅 I've had the pub Buffalo go dead for a month then cough up a free games with stacked wild multipliers that paid for all of it. Same machine sings one Friday and ghosts the next, reckon you're all just remembering the hot nights 🔥🎰
Both camps are half right imo. Venue RTP settings are a real thing, SteveCobber - it's not like Aristocrat ships one paytable, the state sets a floor and each pub or club picks within that. But yeah, memory bias is real too, everyone remembers the Friday the feature stacked 5x wilds and forgets the six dead sessions after.
I track mine like a bankroll sheet, so I've got actual damage records: my club Buffalo has run consistently better than the pub one near the office over months of slaps, and that pattern holds across cold weeks too. Variance swings sessions, sure, but the baseline does differ machine to machine. I keep bet per spin flat the whole time, A$2 a spin, stop-loss before I sit down, so when the club one pays up over the pub one repeatedly, that's data, not vibes 😅💸 Still, the real lesson from yesterday's bust: discipline wins, the free games either show or they don't 🎰
Bankroll discipline wins 💸
ChrisRTP finally says something with sense in this thread 😅 my club Buffalo hits the free games with wild multipliers way more than the one near the station ever has, and I'm on it every Friday arvo. That's not variance to me. Reckon some of youse just cope with "it's hot and cold" because the grand you dropped felt bad. All-time favourite pokie either way... still chasing that A$300 session MaxWinLord had, ah well 🐃💰
One slot, one love 🎰

@Royal77 same cabinet, two venues, feels different. That's the oldest trick your memory plays on you. You're on the club machine every Friday arvo, of course it "hits more". You've got hundreds of sessions logged on one and a handful on the other, plus you only remember the Fridays the feature landed. The pub one eats your A$20s quietly, so it gets remembered as "tight".
The RTP is set by the game config, and venues do run different denominations and configs, fair enough, but "way more multipliers on Fridays" is classic selective recall, not data. If someone genuinely thinks their club Buffalo runs hot, post a session log or a cashout screenshot over a decent sample and I'll believe it when you cash out. Until then it's variance doing what variance does. Long-run it's still minus either way.
Licence first, deposit after.

@FruitWin you're onto something there, memory is a shocking liar after a few frosts. Though I'll say the old reel machines hit different to these cabinets and venue does matter a bit. Payout settings can vary between clubs, so Royal77 might not be entirely mad. Still, hundred sessions versus five? Your Friday arvo bias is doing the heavy lifting 😉 ah well, we grind on.
Royal77's on the money, my Friday arvo club Buffalo pays the feature regular enough that I budget for it, the pub one just eats the A$20s. Two venues, same cabinet, feels different every time 🎰
Been on both my club and the pub Buffalo this month and I back Royal77, the club one clears a bonus roughly every couple of sessions at A$1 a spin, the pub machine just slowly strips you while you wait. Whether it's a lower venue setting or variance, my bankroll votes for the club 😅 Big wild multipliers in free games are still the only thing that pays, wherever you sit.
my local's buffalo sent me home grinning last friday arvo, feature landed quick and the wild multis stacked up sweet, walked out UP for once 🤑😱 lightning link is still my number one but the club buffalo absolutely pays, the pub one near the site just munches the A$20s while you sit there waiting. Royal77's spot on, same cabinet my butt, they don't feel anything alike 🔥

@MaxBetLifeEveryday glad you got a good one mate, that's the exact session I dream about 😂 wild multis stacking on Buffalo is pure magic when it lands. I'm a Lightning Link man myself but I'll always give Buffalo a slap after, one Friday it stacked so sweet I nearly fell off the stool 🤑. Those arvo features hit different 🔥🎰
Spinning reels dawn to dusk.
Happy for ya MaxBet, ripper session 👏 post the bank balance after a month of Fridays and we'll see who's grinning 😏💸
The house always wins.
@BankrollKing it's a bit of fun mate, no one's pretending Buffalo's a wage 😂 if a Friday arvo session puts a grin on your face that's the whole point 🤑
Backing my slot to the last spin.
Fair point from SamJackpot about venue, I've noticed it myself. Buffalo at my local club on the coast plays tight as anything, but the one near Pacific Fair seems to hand out the gold head feature like lollies. Same game, different mood entirely, weird as it sounds 😅
I keep Buffalo as my wind-down pokie after the footy multis settle. Bet $2 a spin, capped at A$50 for the arvo, and if the free games don't hit in that I'm out the door. The only thing Buffalo asks of you is patience with those reels stacking two wilds short. Question for the thread. Anyone else find the Buffalo Deluxe versions hit the feature quicker than the classic cabinet, or is that just my luck talking? 🎰
Bonus taken, wagering cleared.
That venue thing is doing my head in a bit 😅 I only play Buffalo at the one club near me so I've got nothing to compare, do venues actually set them different or is it just vibes and small sample size? Probably a dumb question but I'd rather ask than guess 🤞
Asking dumb bonus questions — that's the job.
