Dragon Link plays totally different between venues
Funnily enough this is the first thing I check when a Dragon Link feels dead. The venue. Spring Festival is one of those Aristocrat cabinets where the RTP isn't one published number; each pub or club sets it within the state minimum. So the Hold & Spin, the Free Games and the grand/major jackpots look identical across venues, but the maths under the bonnet can be tuned differently. That's exactly why your slap at one place felt night and day compared to the other.
Quick way I think about it: hit rate depends on the volatility of the machine, sure, but the payback percentage is the venue's dial. Run the same A$ session at both and the tighter config just bleeds you slower into the feature chase, EV is still negative either way, some venues are just more negative. Worth keeping notes on which local pays. 📊

Learned this one the hard way a few years back, chasing the Spring Festival grand at the club when the pub version up the road had been dead as a doornail for weeks. Same cabinet, same Hold & Spin, totally different beast under the bonnet, the venue sets its own number within the state minimum, so I stopped wondering why my fortnightly slap went further at one and vanished at the other. Good heads-up, Grinder. Ah well, we grind on 😉

Had the same experience with Spring Festival myself, played a slap at the pub near me, dead machine vibes, Hold & Spin barely teased, walked out lighter than I'd like to admit. Went to the club across town a few nights later and the free games actually fired, feature hit twice in one session. Same cabinet, same jackpots sitting there on the screen, completely different maths underneath. Makes you wonder how many "cold streak" stories are just the venue's dial turned down. Yeah it blew my mind when I first found out too - thought all Dragon Link cabinets were identical 😅 that's exactly why I keep coming back to the club one near me, the Hold & Spin actually teases properly there and I've had the free games sing a couple times. The pub across the bridge just feels flat, like the progressives are glued shut. Still chasing that major tho... 🐉

@SteveCobber Careful with the "teases properly" logic, a looser feel could just be variance having a good week, and venues run different RTP configs on the same cabinet, so it's real, but nobody posts the actual setup. Had sessions at my local where the Hold & Spin went cold for months. Believe it when you cash out; a couple of free games sings proves nothing long-run.

I get that nobody publishes the configs, but clubs vs pubs feel genuinely different to me, same as Lightning Link did before it. Even if it's partly variance, the vibe at my local is juicier and I'll keep backing it 🔥🎰
