Learned this the hard way back when Queen of the Nile ruled the floor. Chased a dead machine for an arvo at one club, wandered into another a week later and it paid like it owed me money. Funny thing is the punters swear the tight ones are "broken", nah, they're just configured that way. Best trick is to note which venues have been kind to you and stick with them, but never expect the same generosity twice. Not a dumb question at all mate, it's exactly what happens. The club can run theirs down near the state floor while the pub up the road has theirs set higher, same cabinet, same lanterns, different beast. I had a slap on one years back that felt like a Queen of the Nile on its best behaviour, then hit another venue and the Hold & Spin wouldn't feed me a thing. You never know till you've had a few spins at that particular machine.

Pub pokies RTP is fixed per state anyway, venues can't secretly gimp one cabinet. If that tease actually paid you out, post the cashout screenshot, otherwise it's just another lantern story.
